Nature-Related Risk Management and Disclosure Framework
We’re thrilled to share that The Lever Room has been invited to join a global multi-disciplinary consultative group to contribute to the development of a nature-related risk management and disclosure framework.
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) was established in response to the growing need to factor nature into financial and business decisions. The TNFD is a global initiative with the ultimate aim of supporting a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.
The Framework itself will be applicable to, and used by, business and financial institutions of different sizes and sectors.
Through our contribution The Lever Room will be seeking to build on our existing ‘Measuring what Matters’ programme of work by helping in particular to:
1. Drive alignment with the emerging global sustainability reporting baseline currently under development.
2. Encourage early action by companies and financial institutions to begin reporting nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, given the urgent need to address both nature loss and climate change in an integrated way; and
3. Provide a structured path to increase disclosure ambition over time, recognising that the incorporation of nature-related issues is new to many organisations, but a rapidly growing strategic imperative for sound governance, strategy, risk management and capital allocation.
